We often find some bizarre custom creations up for sale on eBay and this modified Pontiac Solstice is one of the weirdest we’ve seen for quite some time.

Listed as the “Cobra Innovation Concept” with both Ford and Shelby badges, its asserted that work on this Solstice started more than a decade ago and apparently, Carroll Shelby was shown it back in 2011, just a few months before he passed away. At one point, the builder reportedly wanted to put it into production and sell it with a V8 engine in standard guise and a V10 powertrain for even greater performance.

The most obvious point of difference between this Pontiac than any other are the custom cues meant to mimic the look of the Ford Shelby Cobra V10 Concept. This is mostly (and probably only) apparent from the front where there is a small Shelby-style grille and racing stripes. From there, things start going downhill.

For those who can’t tell, the real 2004 Shelby Cobra Concept V10 is pictured below

In an attempt to differentiate the car from a regular Solstice, what looks like tape or stickers have been applied over the taillights and headlights. What’s more, you’ll also notice that it features V10 badges on the sides as well as a V10 badge on the rear and a ‘600TT’ badge at the rear.

This would lead you to believe it features a twin-turbo V10 with 600 hp. It doesn’t. In fact, the listing admits that it still has the standard four-cylinder engine albeit with custom headers and a new exhaust.

What’s particularly strange about the listing is that the seller alleges the vehicle could be put into production and that being the first example, this ‘special’ Solstice is worth a pretty penny. The seller goes as far as to compare this modified Pontiac with the first Cobra build by Carroll Shelby.

“CARROLL SHELBY WHEN HE FIRST BUILT HIS FIRST COBRA WAS TRYING TO SELL IT FOR $3,500. AND COULD NOT SELL IT. GOOD THING, BECAUSE IN 2016 THAT CAR SOLD FOR $13.8 MILLION USD,” the seller writes.

This strange Solstice has an asking price of $29,000. That sounds rather excessive, to put it lightly.
