After spending many weeks in lockdown, many of us are eager to temporary get away from the civilized world, but in order to do so, we need a proper set of wheels.

Have something in mind? We do, and it’s a custom motorhome that builds on a classic Mercedes-Benz G-Class, or Puch G, as it used to be called in certain European countries, which started life back in 1993 as a military vehicle for the Swiss army.

It recently arrived at Lorinser, which gave it a blood transfusion and a few organ transplants, turning it into a veritable home on wheels for two. It sports everything required from such a vehicle, including a bed, cabinets, microwave, sink with running water, foldable table, several pouches, water tank, sliding side windows and sky light.

Taking a shower means stepping outside, as it does not feature a bathroom, nor a toilet, but at least it’s equipped with rechargeable batteries that take care of the heating and can keep your mobile phone juiced up.

Finished in matte green/gray paint and riding on DOTZ wheels wrapped in BFGoodrich all-terrain tires, the G-Wagen’s hardtop has a map theme. The off-roader also features new LED headlights, solar panels, wheels spacers and a few other gizmos.

Delivering 114 HP (116 PS / 85 kW) to the four-wheel drive system through a 4-speed automatic transmission is the original 2.3-liter engine that has 54,680 miles (88,000 km) on the clock.

The German tuner is looking to part ways with this G-Class motorhome, and it’s asking €69,900 ($75,760) for it.

Would you buy it if you had that kind of cash lying around or would you go for something newer? Don’t event think about the latest G-Class in that price range, as it starts at $130,900 in our market.
