The city of Joplin, Missouri is pulling out all the stops to convince Elon Musk that he should build the factory needed for the Tesla Cybertruck in the city.

Joplin has announced it is offering Tesla a 1,042 acre site at a 50 per cent discount as well as a 100 per cent tax abatement for 12 years, various Missouri Works incentives, Missouri Automotive Incentive tax credits, state and local sales tax exemptions, Missouri BUILD incentives, and more than $75 million in annual payroll savings thanks to the lower manufacturing and engineer wages in Joplin when compared to cities like Nashville, Tennesse, and Austin, Texas.

Joplin Area Chamber of Commerce president Toby Teeter recently appealed to Elon Musk directly on Twitter, saying that the electric car manufacturer should “#ChooseJoplin.” The city has gone as far as to launch a website appealing specifically to Tesla to set up shop in the growing city, Bloomberg reports.

Elon Musk announced on Twitter in early March that he was scouting for locations in the central U.S. to build a factory for the upcoming Cybertruck. Teeter also jumped on the opportunity back then to try and get Tesla to Joplin.

“Joplin Chamber President here. I’m authorized to give you 100 acres in biz park at crossroads of I-44 and I-49 at the center of the USA, the historic home of battery tech, with four of the largest trucking companies in the world near here. Plus $50+ million in incentives,” he wrote.
