Is a barely tuned new-gen Chevrolet Corvette worthy of lining up at the start line next to the stock Lamborghini Huracan?

This, apparently, was the question that Hennessey came up with, so they decided to make a point by drag racing the two cars, both from a standing start and a 40 mph (64 km/h) rolling start.

First things first: before setting the Vette against the Italian blue-blooded exotic, the Texas tuner gave it a couple of mods, such as a stainless steel exhaust system, which bumps the output from 495 to 510 HP, and a set of lightweight wheels shod in Hoosier slicks.

We will remind you that the stock C8, which packs a 6.2-liter LT2 V8, can run the quarter mile in 11.2 seconds, with an exit speed of 121 mph (195 km/h). For the 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) acceleration it needs less than 3 seconds, and it will eventually run out of breath at 194 mph (312 km/h).

The Huracan, on the other hand, wasn’t modified in any way, so the 5.2-liter naturally aspirated V10 still produced 602 horsepower. Officially, the supercar can sprint to 60 mph (96 km/h) in just a little over three seconds and has a 202 mph (325 km/h) top speed.

There is little doubt that the twin-turbo C8 prepped by Hennessey earlier this year would smoke the Huracan, and we could probably say the same about the one that they used to hit 205 mph (330 km/h), but are these modest modifications enough to make the mid-engined Corvette a worthy Lambo opponent?
