Get An Up Close Look At The Upcoming 640HP BMW M5 CS

A video has surfaced online showcasing the 2021 BMW M5 CS at what appears to be an official BMW facility.

While our spy photographers have snapped the M5 CS undergoing tests in the past, the German car manufacturer is remaining tight-lipped about the car. However, this video shows that it is very real and will be differentiated from lesser M5 models on a number of fronts.

For starters, this particular M5 CS appears to feature an intriguing matte green paint scheme (or it could be matte grey but looks green in the low-res video). Elsewhere, it looks as though there are lightly-colored matte gold surrounds around the blacked-out front kidney grilles. We can also see an M5 CS badge on one of the front fenders, silver and black multi-spoke wheels, carbon fiber wing mirrors, and a rear diffuser that might be slightly more aggressive than the M5 and M5 Competition.

Specifications remain unconfirmed at this stage but we know the super sedan will be powered by a 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine just like lesser variants. However, BMW’s engineers will make some modifications so it pumps out approximately 640 hp and 590 lb-ft (800 Nm) of torque, or 25 hp and 37 lb-ft (50 Nm) more than the M5 Competition.

A number of other modifications will be made, including a tweaked limited-slip differential and high-performance ceramic brakes. There should also be an available carbon fiber reinforced plastic roof.

BMW is expected to limit production of the M5 CS but it is unclear just how many examples will be built. Nevertheless, it could come at a premium of $20,000 or more over the M5 Competition.
