The Dodge Viper is one of the most iconic cars ever built in the U.S. and not having it on the market anymore simply doesn’t feel right. While it is unlikely it will make a return, designer TheSketchMonkey on YouTube has decided to render what it could look like if brought into the modern world.

As you will immediately notice, the alterations made to the Viper are quite minor. While an argument can certainly be made that a new Viper would need to be drastically different from its predecessors to prove a success, there has been somewhat of a resurgence in retro-inspired vehicles hitting the market and a new Viper could be one of them.

With this in mind, the proportions of the car are identical to the second-generation model built between 1995 and 2002. We love the looks of all iterations of Viper, but think the second-gen has perhaps remained the most timeless.

To bring the car into 2020, TheSketchMonkey has overhauled the rear fascia and made it more angular thanks to some sharp new lines and thin taillights.

Back in its heyday, the Dodge Viper competed against the Chevrolet Corvette but had a personality all to its own, thanks largely to its massive naturally aspirated V10 engine that varied between 8.0-liters and 8.4-liters in displacement depending on the model year. If FCA were to ever build a new Viper, it would probably have a hard time passing emissions standards with a big V10 and would probably opt for something smaller.
