The Toyota GR Yaris is one of the most hyped hot hatches to launch in recent memory and while it isn’t coming to the United States, it will make its presence felt at the Goodwood SpeedWeek penciled in for October 16-18th.

In this short video previewing the event as well as the hot hatch, racing driver Kris Meeke performs some epic drifts in all-wheel-drive GR Yaris, showing just how agile and nimble the tiny hatch is. It looks like heaps of fun to drive and we are chomping at the bit to test it out, hopefully sometime in 2021.

Sitting beneath the skin of the GR Yaris is a 1.6-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine that is good for an impressive 268 HP and 273 lb-ft (370 Nm) of torque in Japanese specification or 257 HP and 266 lb-ft (350 Nm) in other markets. This engine is paired with a six-speed manual transmission and an all-wheel drive system.

Those wanting the ultimate in performance can opt for the available Circuit Pack that adds Torsen limited-slip differentials to both the front and rear. Additionally, the Circuit Pack includes performance-tuned suspension and 18-inch forged wheels with 225/40 Michelin Pilot Sport 4s tires.

Goodwood SpeedWeek will look to combine the best elements of the Goodwood Festival of Speed, Goodwood Revival, and Goodwood Members’ Meetings into a single event. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, those three events were canceled this year so SpeedWeek aims to “fill the gap in the motorsport calendar.” It will be held behind closed doors and available to stream through the Goodwood Road & Racing social media channels.
