It has been 14 years since the C6-generation Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 hit the market, and to this day, it remains an extraordinary performer.

To give us an idea of just how fast the C6 Corvette ZR1 is, a YouTuber recently lined up a yellow example against a Lamborghini Huracan for three rolling races.

It’s worth pointing out right off the bat that if the two were competing in a drag race from a standing start, the all-wheel drive system and dual-clutch transmission of the Lamborghini would have evened the playing field considerably. By comparison, a rolling race is a more representative way of displaying the peak horsepower and torque outputs of the duo.

First, the numbers. Slotted beneath the elongated hood of the Corvette is a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 with no less than 638 horses. This engine is coupled to a six-speed manual transmission that powers the rear wheels. By comparison, the Lamborghini Hruacan has a 5.2-liter naturally aspirated V10 with 602 hp and the aforementioned all-wheel drive and dual-clutch gearbox.

In all three of the races, the extra grunt of the Chevrolet allows it to pull away from the Lamborghini with ease. However, even though the races usually take place from 50 to 140 mph (80-225 km/h), a fault with the data loggers meant that they only had times for the 100 km/h – 200 km/h (62 mph – 124 mph) acceleration.

In the first run, the C6 ZR1 needed 8.69 seconds to run from 100-200 km/h, compared to the 8.81 seconds of the Huracan. In the second run, the ZR1 required 7.79 seconds while the Huracan was a hair quicker at 7.73 seconds. In the final run, the ZR1 clocked a time of 7.96 seconds while the Lamborghini recorded a 100-200 km/h time of 8.02 seconds.
