Ken Block’s latest rallycross car doesn’t produce the kind of sound we’re used to hearing rally cars make but it might just be the new king of destroying tires.

The experienced racing driver is currently competing in this special electric Ford Fiesta in the Projekt E series that acts as the support category of the FIA World Rallycross Championship. As with the other cars competing in the series, it features four-wheel drive and a powertrain developed by STARD.

While testing out the car in Sweden, Block says it feels very different to the internal combustion engine’d rallycross cars that he is accustomed to driving. For example, he notes that you can feel the added weight so he has to brake a touch earlier heading into corners. Things get particularly entertaining into the video when Block starts to hoon the Fiesta and the way it is able to spin up all four wheels is truly a sight to behold.

The STARD powertrain consists of three electric motors that combine to produce 613 hp and 740 lb-ft (1,002 Nm) of torque. The car also uses a two-speed transmission and tops out at 149 mph (240 km/h). It is also able to launch off the time like a missile being fired from a military base. What’s more, the instant torque provided by the electric motors, as well as the all-wheel drive system, allows the Fiesta to perform exceptionally tight donuts with ease. The way it changes direction while spinning up the tires is particularly impressive.
