An extensively modified 1981 Pontiac Turbo Trans Am with the type of performance to rival even the fastest modern-day supercars is heading to auction this weekend.

This classic muscle car is known as the ‘Full Force Trans Am’ and was built at the cost of approximately $300,000 by Schwartz Performance in Woodstock, Illinois.

This Pontiac Trans Am it was fitted with a custom G-Machine full-length frame that is able to accommodate a new powertrain. This takes the form of a 6.9-liter LS9 V8 with twin-turbochargers and dry-sump lubrication that pumps out 1,300 hp, which is almost 6.5 times more than the car’s standard 201 hp rating.

Accompanying the engine are twin 4-inch aluminum intakes and custom exhaust manifolds with 3-inch stainless tubing. There’s also a Be Cool aluminum radiator with dual SPAL fans, a Bowler 4L85E automatic transmission with overdrive and paired to a custom driveshaft with a Winters aluminum rear-end and Moser full-floating hubs and axles.

Any car with this kind of power also needs some serious suspension and braking upgrades, and the Full Force Trans Am has just that with RideTech triple-adjustable coilovers and 14-inch cross-drilled brake discs with six-piston calipers at all four corners.

A number of welcome updates have also been made to the interior. They include a RideTech stainless Tiger Cage roll bar, custom gauge cluster, a Vintage Air Gen IV magnum air conditioning unit and Procar Scat Rally 1000 leather bucket seats.

The car will be sold by Mecum Auctions during its October 15-17 event in Dallas, Texas.
