The first images of the 2021 Nissan Navara that’s also known as the Frontier in some countries outside of the USA and Canada, have leaked online revealing a pickup truck that looks more modern than the current model.

Bear in mind that this specific Frontier is based on the Navara and is sold in overseas markets including Mexico, Argentina and Brazil, but not in the USA and Canada where the unrelated Frontier’s successor was first teased back in May.

Prior to the global Navara / Frontier’s global debut, three photos have surface that show the new pickup in LE 4×4 guise and in a more off-road-focused version that could be the new Pro-4X model.

The truck teased in this photo is the U.S. and Canadian market Frontier that is unrelated to the Navara-based Frontier sold in several overseas markets such as Brazil and Mexico

Up front, these pictures from FormaCar show Nissan has fitted its new pickup with sleek new headlights complete with LED daytime running lights. The white example also features a large grille with a chrome surround that stretches up onto the hood. Found at the rear are distinctive taillights with a unique lighting graphic and a tailgate with ‘Frontier’ lettering. It all looks rather nice and certainly brings the Frontier into the modern age.

The second example pictured is clearly the new off-road-focused variant of the Frontier and includes a matte black grille with large ‘Frontier’ lettering, a bullbar, plastic cladding on the wheel arches and unique wheels with all-terrain tires.

While the next U.S. and Canadian Frontier will use the same 3.8-liter V6 that Nissan introduced earlier this year for the 2020 model, the new Navara and Frontier for global markets could retain the 2.3-liter four-cylinder diesel in different states of tune.

Correction: We’ve clarified in our story that there are in fact two different Nissan Frontier models available for sale worldwide, and not one as erroneously suggested in the original article. We apologize for the confusion. The one pictured here is based on the Navara (NP300) and is offered in a number of global markets such as Mexico, Brazil and Argentina, and another that is built on the older F-Alpha platform for the U.S.A and Canada. You can see our most recent spy shots on the American market Frontier here.
