One could argue that the racetrack is not the natural habitat for the Bentley Continental – and they’d be right.

Despite that, SportAuto put Uwe Sener in the driver’s seat of a Continental GT V8 shod with Pirelli P Zero tires and set it loose at the Hockenheim GP.

Unsurprisingly, the luxury coupe didn’t feel at home at the track, where it posted a lap time of 1:59.4. By comparison, the Porsche Cayenne Turbo Coupe and Audi TT RS Coupe were 0.6 seconds faster. The BMW M2 Competition and X6 M Competition ran across the finish line in 1:58.4 and 1:58.3 respectively, and the M850i xDrive Coupe proved more agile, having lapped the track in 1:57.0.

FastestLaps reveals that Sener posted a 2:00.7 in the Mercedes-AMG A45 S, 2:00.8 in the Renault Megane RS Troph, and 2:01.2 in the Ford Mustang GT.

The undisputed king of the German track, in this configuration, is the McLaren Senna, with 1:40.79, followed by the Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series, McLaren 720S and Ferrari 488 Pista with 1:43.3, 1:45.5 and 1:45.9, respectively. Mind you, these are all unofficial lap times unrecognized by any manufacturer.

Unveiled last year, the Continental GT V8 needs 3.9 seconds for the 0 to 60 mph (0-96 km/h) run and can hit a top speed of 198 mph (318 km/h). As its name implies, is powered by a V8, with 4.0 liters in displacement and twin turbos, which churns out 542 HP (550 PS / 404 kW) and 568 lb-ft (770 Nm) of torque.
