The Ford Explorer Sport Trac has always been an interesting pickup and they don’t get much cooler than this Sport Trac Adrenalin concept.

Set to go under the hammer at Barrett-Jackson’s Fall Auction, the concept was created by Ford’s Special Vehicle Team (SVT) and introduced at the 2005 New York Auto Show.

Billed as the “world’s first high-performance sport-utility truck,” the Adrenalin was described as the marriage between the F-150 SVT Lightning and the Explorer Sport Trac.

As part of the nuptials, the concept was equipped with a supercharged 4.6-liter V8 engine that produces 390 hp (291 kW / 395 PS) and 390 lb-ft (529 Nm) of torque. It is connected to a six-speed automatic transmission and was envisioned to be offered with rear- and all-wheel drive.

Besides the supercharged V8, the concept has an SVT-tuned suspension with special shocks and springs as well as beefier stabilizer bars. A high-performance braking system also resides behind the 21-inch alloy wheels.

Speaking of the exterior, the truck has streamlined styling and a four foot (1,219 mm) bed. Other highlights include a ventilated hood, front fender vents and a dual exhaust system.

When the concept was introduced, Ford proudly proclaimed the Sport Trac Adrenalin would be launched in 2007 and take performance to an entirely new segment.  However, fans ended up getting a glorified special edition and the Sport Trac was phased out in 2010.

That same year, Ford sold the Adrenalin concept and now it can be yours.
