Peugeot has launched an all-electric version of its Rifter MPV, giving it the ‘e’ prefix and offering it in five- or seven-seat configurations.

Set to arrive at dealers across Europe later this year, it uses the same powertrain as the e-Partner, with a 136 PS (134 HP / 100 kW) and 260 Nm (192 lb-ft) of torque electric motor and a 50 kWh battery. The e-Rifter has a total driving range of up to 275 km (171 miles) in the WLTP cycle, a 134 km/h (83 mph) top speed and can accelerate to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 11.2 seconds.

“The new e-Rifter is our latest electric model, and is one step closer to fulfilling our promise of offering an electrified variant across our entire model lineup by 2023”, said the brand’s UK managing director, Julie David. “With a range of practical features and available in five- or seven-seat configurations, we believe the e-Rifter is the ideal choice for both families and businesses looking for a versatile, zero emissions vehicle and are excited to introduce it to our customers later this year.”

The e-Rifter comas as standard with a 7.4 kW single-phase charger and optionally with a 11 kW, three-phase one. Its battery pack supports 100 kW fast charging and takes 30 minutes to be filled from 0 to 80 percent with the 11 kW charger. At a 7.4 kW wallbox, a full charge takes 7.5 hours, or 5 hours when using the 11 kW charger.

Just like the e-Partner, drivers have three modes available at the push of a button. The ‘Eco’ limits the electric motor’s output and torque to 82 PS (80 HP / 60 kW) and 180 Nm (133 lb-ft), ‘Normal’ brings 109 PS (107 HP / 80 kW) and 220 Nm (162 lb-ft), and ‘Power’ makes the full 136 PS (134 HP / 100 kW) and 260 Nm (192 lb-ft) available for optimum performance. In the latter mode, it has a towing capacity of up to 750 kg (1,653 lbs). Two regenerative braking modes are also available, named the ‘Moderate’ and ‘Increased’.

Available in Standard (4.4 m / 173 in) and Long (4.75 m / 187 in) variants, with a 1.90-meter (75 in) height and a 10.8-meter (35ft 5in) turning radius, Peugeot’s electric MPV has a boot space ranging from 775 liters (27.4 cu-ft) for the five-seater Standard to 4,000 liters (141.3 cu-ft) with the seats folded down in the Long.

It features an ‘e-Rifter’ monogram at the back, a charging port on the left rear fender, and sits on 16-inch aluminum wheels on the Allure Premium spec, or 17-inch aluminum rims on the GT, which also features distinctive styling elements and individual rear seats.

Other highlights include Peugeot’s i-Cockpit, an 8-inch touchscreen display, smartphone integration, reversing camera and a host of driver assistance gear, such as the lane departure warning, automatic collision alert, automatic emergency braking, speed sign recognition and recommendation, blind spot monitoring, trailer stability control and hill start assist.
