As a reader of this site and one who is well versed in internet car videos, you will no doubt be familiar with this genre of automotive entertainment. And now Ford’s getting in on the fun.

There are nearly as many videos of pickup trucks catching ridiculous air as there are pickup truck models and every video goes the same way. Someone giggles from behind the camera, a truck goes flying past at a distance and speed that would suggest mortal danger for the person holding it, the truck catches massive air, the truck breaks.

But that, apparently, wasn’t the case for this F-150. According to the person who posted this clip to Instagram, this was one of eight jumps the new 2021 Ford F-150 Raptor did and drove away from. As to whether or not the driver’s spine was in equally good condition, we know not.

The video is apparently from a shoot that Ford was running to get footage for an ad it will soon run and that makes sense given the camera truck that drives into frame. Importantly, the post claims that this was a stock (and not modified for this jump) Raptor.

That kind of matters because Ford got into a bit of trouble with early Raptors for failing to anticipate quite how fond of finding air its customers would be. So, for motorists’ whose favorite two words are “send” and “it,” this will be a good sign.

Again good news, because the base Raptor is a bit outgunned by the RAM TRX, whose engine is as angry as its all caps name would suggest. Mind you, a viral video showed that truck becoming all bent and broken after a huge jump of its own.

It is worth noting, though, that as the ad will no doubt make clear (with some fine print somewhere) this was driven by a professional driver on a closed course. That means that the scenario has been designed to, as much as possible, be survivable. Still pretty impressive, though.
