FCA might be history, but their Drive for Design contest is continuing in the Stellantis era.

This year’s contest kicked off earlier today and it asks 10-12 grade U.S. high school students to imagine the electrified Jeep of the future. Teens are free to let their imaginations run wild as the sketches can include everything from traditional trucks and SUVs to vehicles that travel by water or air.

Entries can be submitted at StellantisDriveForDesign.com and they’re due May 14th. They’ll be judged by members of the product design office and evaluated on craftsmanship, design quality, illustration and originality.

Of course, it wouldn’t be much of a contest without prizes and three winners will be announced on May 20th. The first place winner will receive a Wacom MobileStudio Pro 16 tablet as well as a “virtual day of design” that includes a one-on-one portfolio review with Stellantis designers Ralph Gilles and Mark Trostle. They’ll also be treated to a livestream with the Stellantis design team, who will reveal their tools and tips for creating a successful design.

The winner will also receive a scholarship for a four-week virtual summer program at the College for Creative Studies and see their sketch featured on Stellantis social media channels.

The prize for second and third place is largely identical, but they’ll receive an Apple iPad Pro and Apple Pencil instead of a pricey Wacom tablet.

While the pandemic has made remote learning a fact of life for many students, Stellantis noted “Without a nudge from an art teacher, a visit to an art school or just plain luck, some of the world’s top automotive designers may never have made their mark in automotive design history.”
