Few cars of the last two decades are quite as recognizable as the BMW Z8 and one particularly pristine example is currently up for auction. It’s not cheap, however, as bidding had hit $196,000 at the time of writing.

This Z8 was acquired by the selling dealer from the first owner and is being offered with a battery tender, the factory radio, a clean Carfax report, and a clean California title. It has just over 7,000 miles (11,265 km) on the clock.

The BMW Z8 was famously designed by Henrik Fisker and this car is clad in Schwarz 2, a shade of black that is contrasted by staggered-width 18-inch silver wheels with 245/45 front and 275/40 rear Bridgestone Potenza RE040 tires. It also features a black soft top and a body-colored hardtop that can be easily installed, the listing confirms.

While the exterior is quite restrained, the interior is quite the opposite. Adorning much of the seats, transmission tunnel, door panels, and dashboard is Sport Red leather. Other interior features include satin aluminum accents on the dash, door panels, shift knob, and handbrake. Key features include heated and power-adjustable seats, a hideaway digital stereo with hands-free calling, and an offset gauge cluster in the center of the dash.

Powering the BMW Z8 is the same 4.9-liter S62 V8 as the E39-generation M5 and good for 394 hp and 368 lb-ft (500 Nm) of torque when it was new. Sending this power through the rear wheels is a six-speed manual transmission.
