The one-off Hyundai Pony EV is one of the more intriguing show cars created by the South Korean car manufacturer in recent memory and just a few days after the first photos of the vehicle emerged online, it is now the subject of an in-depth video that shows it in detail.

Hyundai is displaying the Pony EV at its Motostudio center in Busan, Korea until June 27, 2021 and as you probably already know, it is based on an original Pony from the 1970s but has had its styling tweaked and now rocks an electric powertrain.

The key man behind the project was Hyundai chief interior design Hak Soo Ha and despite the inclusion of an electric powertrain, the car has retained its original proportions but looks a touch more modern thanks to a handful of new styling elements.

Most notably, the Pony EV features distinctive headlights and taillights with a similar pixel design to those of the all-electric Hyundai Ioniq 5. The show car also features rear-facing cameras on the front fenders as opposed to traditional pillar-mounted mirrors. Significant alterations have also been made to the interior of the Pony EV.

There is a unique three-spoke steering wheel and unique gauges behind a stunning piece of glass. Hyundai has also given the Pony EV a number of touch surfaces, although it is unclear if they are all functional. The vehicle’s door panels have also been dressed in leather and aluminum and the trunk features a ‘last-mile mobility device’ which is thought to be a foldable electric scooter.
