While the 2022 Subaru BRZ lacks the turbocharger that many of us had hoped it would have, it certainly seems to be an improvement over the first-generation model and the brand is eager to show off its playful character.

This newly-released video from the Japanese car manufacturer shows rally driver Takuma Kamada driving the BRZ along a snow-covered road. While the sports car lacks the advanced all-wheel drive system of other Subaru models, it appears quite controllable on the slippery surface. The clip fails to mention what tires the Subaru was wearing during its snowy adventure.

The most notable update made to the 2022 BRZ over its predecessor is the fitment of a larger 2.4-liter naturally aspirated flat-four. This new engine muscles out 228 hp and 184 lb-ft (250 Nm) of torque in U.S. specification. It revs to 7,000 rpm and can be mated to either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission that sent power to the rear wheels.

While the new BRZ has more power than the old model, this isn’t a car that’s focused on performance times. Instead, it is all about driver involvement and drawing a smile on its driver’s face. Based on this video, it certainly seems like heaps of fun to drive.
