Last month, Hennessey Performance announced that it would install one of Mopar’s rare 7.0-liter supercharged V8 Hellephant engines into a Ram 1500 TRX. Fast forward to the end of May and the engine swap has been completed, making for what is quite possibly the craziest TRX in existence.

This video released by the Texas tuner details the process of slotting the Hellephant engine into the TRX. It appears to go into the crazed pickup truck without any issues and not only does it look even cooler in the engine bay thanks to the enlarged supercharger than a standard Hellcat engine but it also sounds incredible.

Mopar originally built the Hellephant engine to be used in pre-1976 vehicles but lots of tuning shops have decided to slot it into more modern vehicles like the TRX. The engine comes fully-assembled but Hennessey did have to tweak a few things and fitted new valve covers. It also was required to fit the engine harness and transmission harness on an engine crane before slotting the powerplant into the crazed pickup truck.

Hennessey notes in the video that the truck’s ECU was initially just equipped with a base tune to allow it to startup. It runs very smoothly and in future videos, Hennessey will begin to tune the ECU to extract as much power as possible. As standard, the Hellephant engine delivers 1,000 hp but Hennessey is looking to increase that to around 1,200 hp.
