The Environmental Protection Agency has released fuel economy figures for the 2022 Hyundai Santa Cruz pickup truck.

Hyundai’s entry-level Santa Cruz with front-wheel drive has been EPA-rated at 21 mpg city, 26 mpg highway, and 23 mpg combined. Those that opt for all-wheel drive can expect to see 21 mpg city, 27 highway, and 23 mpg combined, actually making it the most fuel-efficient version, rather than the front-wheel drive model as you would expect.

Both variants are sold with a 2.5-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder rated at 190 hp and 180 lb-ft (244 Nm). Those looking for more power can get the Santa Cruz with a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder delivering 275 hp and 310 lb-ft (420 Nm) of torque.

As you would imagine, the more powerful model isn’t so fuel efficient and is rated at 19 mpg city, 27 mpg highway, and 22 mpg combined with the standard all-wheel drive system. Considering all the added power and torque, however, those slightly lower figures aren’t too bad.

Hyundai hasn’t announced pricing details for the Santa Cruz but the truck’s online configurator was recently launched. It reveals that the range will start with the SE variant that comes standard with an 8-inch infotainment system that supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. One step up in the range takes you to the SEL that adds a 10.25-inch digital gauge cluster, Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist, a Proximity key with push button start, 8-way heated power driver seat, and heated side mirrors.

The Santa Cruz is also offered in SEL Premium guise that adds LED headlights, a digital key, and dual-zone automatic climate control. Last but not least is the Limited that adds a larger 10.25-inch infotainment system, 20-inch wheels, heated and ventilated leather front seats, a heated steering wheel, and a Bose premium audio system.
