Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus already has a lot on its plate and has just previewed its next vehicle, a hydrogen fuel cell-powered pickup truck.

SCG first dreamed up the idea of a hydrogen pickup version of the Baja Boot in February. That concept has since morphed into what the company refers to as the Zero Emission Hydrogen Fuel Cell Boot Pickup Concept. While the name doesn’t exactly roll off the tongue, the vehicle is certainly quite interesting.

A single image released of the pickup shows that it will feature a front fascia with a similar design to the Baja Boot, complete with a winch, a prominent skid plate, steel bumper, and quad headlights. It also features a large LED light bar mounted to the roof and sits on a set of black wheels with mud-terrain tires. Viewed from the side you will notice flared wheel arches, rock sliders, and blocked-off rear side windows as the hydrogen tanks will be stored behind the driver. Glickenhaus says its goal is for the pickup to have a range exceeding 600 miles (960 km).

One of the biggest questions about the pickup relates to its powertrain. While Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus does a lot of its work in-house, developing its own hydrogen powertrain is a rather tall order and will probably look to source it from elsewhere. It is likely that the pickup will follow in the footsteps of the Baja Boot by competing in the Baja 1000.

Glickenhaus hopes to begin building a prototype this year.
