In a world where electric cars are becoming more commonplace and every second new performance car seems to be launching with a hybrid powertrain, the new Porsche 911 GT3 and Lamborghini Huracan Evo RWD could almost be considered old school.

Take the Huracan, for example. Whereas all of its rivals, such as the McLaren Artura and Ferrari F8 Tributo, have forced induction engines (plus an electric motor in the McLaren), the Evo RWD retains the car’s famed 5.2-liter naturally aspirated V10. It is a similar story with the 992-generation 911 GT3, as it too eschews a turbocharged engine like the entry-level 911 and flagship 911 Turbo/Turbo S in favor of a high-revving, naturally aspirated flat-six.

Eager to see how the two compare, Auto Express put them to the test along some gorgeous Welsh roads and a racetrack.

While an argument could be made that these two aren’t direct rivals, the fact that they are both the last of their kind makes them very special.

The Lamborghini obviously looks the more dramatic of the two and as Steve Sutcliffe says in his review, it is actually more comfortable to drive on the road than the 911 GT3. He adds that the steering is nicer than standard all-wheel drive models and as you can imagine, he considers the V10 an absolute gem.

The review includes a section where the 911 and Huracan were tested on track but no lap times were set as Lamborghini wouldn’t allow it. While that’s a shame, the truth is that the lap times of these two don’t really matter. What makes them special is that they are both the last of an era and will be remembered fondly for decades to come.
