What would you do if you were approaching a deserted intersection at night and a pickup suddenly skid to a halt on the main road right in front of you? You might get a strong urge to stand on the gas and get out of there sharpish, but one Aussie driver decided to stay and leave his dashcam rolling with amusing results.

First the truck’s passenger door opens then nearly falls to the floor, ending up looking like an upside down Lamborghini scissor door, while the passenger and driver jump out and immediately start squaring up to each other and yelling.

We can’t make out what they’re saying but the passenger suddenly reaches out to grab the driver’s head and it looks like things are really about to kick off. But instead of dropping to the floor and grappling, the pair end up hugging before amicably walking back to the truck.

It’s then that the story takes yet another twist. A cop car pulls up on the other side of the median, prompting the driver to peel out and disappear with the truck’s door flapping in the breeze, leaving his sparring partner and a second passenger stranded in the middle of the road to deal with the law.

We don’t get to see the outcome of what was probably an interesting conversation between the stranded passengers and the police, but it’s not long before we find out what happened to the truck’s driver thanks to the dashcam.

Presumably not far from the original scene but a little later in the evening, the dashcam-equipped car rolls up to an accident where the fleeing pickup is being dragged out of some trees at the side of the road and onto a low loader with a snake of tire skidmarks stretching out behind it and across the road.

There’s no sign of the passenger door, or the driver, but a voice apparently picked up from an emergency services radio transmission tells us a male suffered a number of minor injuries and had to be transported to hospital. It sounds like a night to remember, doesn’t it?
