Few cars look as bizarre as the Renault Avantime and on reflection, it is little surprise that Renault killed off the car after just two years of production with a mere 8,557 units sold.

The exterior design of the Avantime caused a lot of controversy when it was launched and it’s easy to see why. The vehicle has a shape unlike any other automobile with a one-box design that lacked B-pillars and featured design elements from an MPV, an estate, and a 2+2 coupe. It’s looks like a mish-mash of many different cars and not in a good way.

If you thought the Avantime looked odd when standing still, this video shows that it looks even more bizarre on the move.

Spanish publication KM77 recently got its hands on an Avantime and put it through the dreaded moose test. Obviously, the Avantime was never designed as a performance car so its results in the moose test weren’t remarkable.

During the first attempt, the Renault manages to speed through the cones at 69 km/h (42.8 mph) without any difficulty. However, during the second run, the speed was increased to 71 km/h (44.1 mph), the car quickly encountered issue as the rear-end began to slide and it hit one of the cones.

Interestingly, the driver was able to successfully complete the test at 73 km/h (45.3 mph). That’s pretty impressive, especially when you consider that the Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo can only get through the test at 74 km/h (45.9 mph).
