The latest Jeep teaser ahead of its Utah off-roading extravaganza suggests that an updated version of a concept we first saw last year is coming. And that implies a fully electric vehicle is on its way.

The latest in a long line of concepts teased ahead of the Easter Jeep Safari 2022, the image shared by the brand shows little apart from a decal with “Magneto 2.0” on it and a fun hood bulge.

That blue and white concept eschewed the Wrangler‘s traditional powertrain for an all-electric one that was supplied by a quartet of battery packs placed tactically around the chassis for optimal weight distribution and combined for 70 kWh of power.

An electric motor made 285 hp (212 kW/288 PS) and 273 lb-ft (370 Nm) of torque, which it sent to all four wheels via a six-speed manual transmission. Per Jeep, that was good enough to get the off-roader up to 60 mph (96 km/h) in 6.8 seconds.

Although we, of course, don’t yet know what Jeep has planned for this follow-up, it is worth noting that since the first Magneto was revealed, Stellantis has revealed its new EV platforms. The auto-making empire plans to have four standardized battery packs that offer between 300 and 500 miles (500-800 km) of range and support fast charging.

With a variety of motor options, generating anywhere from 94 hp (70 kW / 95 PS) in the smallest, most affordable vehicles to 443 hp (330 kW / 449 PS) for the largest, it’s predicted that vehicles on the chassis could develop up to 885 hp (660 kW / 897 PS) by combining motors for all-wheel-drive applications.

All of which could lead to a less, shall we say, cobbled-together example of what an all-electric Jeep Wrangler might look like than was presented last year.

It will be joined by two 4xe concepts as well as several other off-road-ready concepts that Jeep has planned for the Easter Safari, which takes place between April 9-17 in Moab, Utah.
