Volkswagen is getting very excited about the upcoming ID. Buzz, it all-electric van inspired by the microbus of the 1960s. Set to be unveiled on March 9, the automaker revealed some details about the vehicle’s interior design, including the fact that it will be made without animal products.

That means no leather inside the ID. Buzz, but parts like the steering wheel rim will be made out of polyurethane that mimics the look and feel of leather. The seat upholstery, the floor coverings, and the headliner, meanwhile, will all be made of materials made from recycled products.

One fabric offered for the vehicle will be made of SEAQUAL yarn, a material whose threads are made of approximately 10 percent marine plastic and 90 percent recycled water bottles. Volkswagen says that this means that the production of this material emits 32 percent less carbon than other comparable materials. The ArtVelours EVO upholstery, meanwhile, will be made of 71 percent recyclates and its use in the ID.Buzz will be a first for the Volkswagen Group.

Both single and two-tone body color options

Along with being responsible, VW is also trying to live up to the fun aesthetic of the ID. Buzz. For example, it’s offering seven single-color options for the van and four two-tone schemes. These will combine white with fresh colors that are carried throughout the vehicle, optionally including the seat cushions, the dash panel, the door trim, and the exterior.

The automaker is also working to include little Easter eggs throughout the cabin, too. Some are as simple as a line-drawing of an ID. Buzz, while others will be more functional. The vehicle will, for instance, feature a bottle opener and an ice scraper.

Volkswagen further revealed that in the five-seater ID. Buzz, there will be 1,121 liters (39.5 cubic feet) of cargo space behind the back seats. The ID. Buzz Cargo, meanwhile, will be able to haul 3.9 square meters (42 square feet).

Set to be unveiled on Wednesday, Automobilewoche reports that the ID. Buzz will go on sale in Europe in September. The van will also be sold in the U.S. but won’t be introduced until next year.
