French sports cars don’t get much more iconic than the original Alpine A110 and a particularly pristine example is currently up for auction in Italy.

This particular A110 is a 1600S model and was originally sold new in Naples, Italy. It is painted in the same recognizable shade of blue that adorns many other A110s from this time period and continues to sit on the original three-lug alloy wheels mounted with 165HR13 Michelin XAS tires.

According to Bring A Trailer, a number of updates and upgrades have been made to the car. Most notably, it underwent a restoration that was completed in 2010 and saw the exterior resprayed. Various other parts were also refreshed, including the chrome front and rear bumpers, rear quarter intakes, driver-side mirror, plexiglass headlight covers, and fog lights. Adjustable shocks from Koni have also been installed.

The interior also looks to be a lovely place to seat. Adorning the seats is black leatherette alongside a color-matching dashboard, door panels, and carpets. The Alpine also sports a patterned aluminum dash insert, roll bar, and a rear parcel shelf with vinyl tie-down straps. A leather-wrapped MOMO steering wheel also catches the eye.

Powering the sports car is a 1.6-liter four-cylinder complete with dual Weber 45 DCOE carburetors that was rebuilt during the refurbishment. Coupled to the engine is a five-speed manual transmission and as the engine only has ~35,000 km (~22,000 miles) under its belt, it should run smoothly for many years to come.

Alpine built the original A110 between 1963 and 1977. The original model had a small 956 cc engine but as the years progressed, Alpine gradually fitted larger and larger engines, starting with a 1.1-liter and then progressing to a 1.3-liter, a 1.4-liter, 1.5-liter, and the 1.6-liter of this example, pumping out a respectable 140 hp.
