Mini today announced that the Multitone Roof treatment will be extended beyond the Cooper SE model with the Multitone Edition package. Available on the 3 Door, 5 Door, and Clubman models, the automaker says it conveys a “friendly, positive attitude to life.”

The treatment sees the roof section of the Mini painted with a gradient that runs from Aspen White at the front, through Melting Silver II in the middle, and finally to Jet Black at the rear of the car.

The look is made possible thanks to the innovative wet-on-wet painting process used at Mini’s Oxford plant. The technology allows the automaker to apply three color shades one after the other, without waiting for them to dry. The process means that each vehicle gets a slightly different gradient transition, which Mini points out makes each vehicle unique.

That paintwork is complemented by what Mini calls “an abstract, white rainbow”. The automaker says that the motif celebrates the “diverse Mini community,” though I guess a real rainbow would have been a little too colorful.

Regardless, the Mini 3 Door and 5 Door Multitone Editions are available in Sage Green, while the Clubman is available exclusively in Indian Summer Red. All models get a special badge with the “abstract white rainbow” over the front wheel arch and a PU sticker on the C-pillar.

Depending on the model, the Mini Multitone Edition is offered with 17-inch Scissor Spoke 2-tone wheels or 18-inch Pulse Spoke 2-tone or Multiray Spoke design wheels. The models shown here also get white mirror caps, door handles, headlight surrounds, taillight surrounds, gas cap, and trunk handle.

The abstract rainbow motif, meanwhile, is continued inside along the passenger-side dashboard, the door sills, the sun visors, and the floor mats. The key cap, finally, is also customized for this model. Expect Mini to announce availability and pricing on a market by market basis soon.
