You might think that Brabus already offers too many different variations of the G-Class, but you’d be wrong, as the tuner revealed another souped-up version of the iconic off-roader. The new Brabus P 900 Rocket Edition will enter a limited production of ten units, as the most road-focused Geländewagen with a bed. And 888 hp. It’s a G-Class truck with nearly 900 horsepower.

The P 900 Rocket Edition combines the long pickup body of the 800 Adventure XLP, with the lower chassis and performance credentials of the 900 Rocket SUV. In addition, the aggressive carbon-fiber widebody kit of the latter has been adapted to the truck’s longer bodywork. Despite the lowered suspension, the model still sits 2,055 mm (80.9 inches) tall for a commanding road presence.

The prominent splitter with red fins matches the diffuser extensions, as well as the accents on the red-illuminated grille and the side gills. Other details include the vented bonnet with a glass window display (!) for the engine cover, the wide fender flares with integrated inlets, the side-mounted exhaust pipes, and the bespoke rear bed with steel floor and carbon bedsides. The truck sits on a set of impressively large 24-inch one-piece Brabus Monobloc Z “Platinum Edition” forged wheels with carbon-fiber Aero-Discs.

The four-seater cabin benefits from the Brabus Masterpiece treatment with premium-looking fine-leather upholstery all over the place featuring “Seashell Diamond” stitching, contrasting with the “Rocket Red” accents. The seats are heated and ventilated, with screens mounted on the front seatbacks, and a 4.3-inch touch control panel for the rear passengers. Other additions include the extensive use of carbon-fiber trim, ambient lighting, and the illuminated Brabus emblems.

Road-Focused Chassis Upgrades And A Bi-Turbo V8 Producing 888 Hp

Instead of the portal axles of the Adventure XLP, the Rocket uses an active Brabus RideControl aluminum coilover suspension for better on-road handling and performance. Ride height is lowered by up to 45 mm (1.8 inches) compared to the stock G63, while the firmness of the dampers is selectable through the cockpit.

The braking system comprises vented and cross-drilled steel brake discs with a diameter of 400 mm (15.7 inches) at the front and 370 mm (14.5 inches) at the back.

The increased-displacement 4.5-liter Biturbo V8 engine has a long list of hardware and software modifications, resulting in a substantial power boost compared to the stock Mercedes-AMG G63. More specifically the 900 Rocket produces 888 hp (900 PS / 662 kW) and an electronically-limited 774 lb-ft (1,050 Nm) of torque. Power is transmitted to all four wheels through a 9-speed automatic gearbox and a permanent all-wheel-drive system.

Thus, despite the enormous weight of 2,720 kg (5,997 lbs) and the brick-like shape, the Brabus P 900 Rocket Edition accelerates from 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in a sportscar-beating 3.7 seconds. Interestingly, this is the exact same figure as in the “normal” Brabus 900 Rocket, despite the pickup version carrying an extra 160 kg (353 lbs) of weight. Likewise, the top speed is electronically limited to 280 km/h (174 mph) in order to protect the tires (and the sanity of the passengers – probably).

The pictured example of the Brabus P 900 Rocket Edition “One of Ten” is priced at €649,638 ($640,806), before taxes. This is around €170k more expensive than the shorter SUV variant of the 900 Rocket with the same engine but 75k less expensive than the less powerful 800 XLP Superblack pickup with portal axles.
