Porsche has enjoyed a very strong start to 2023, reporting record first-quarter deliveries in the United States as well as increases in sales across Europe, China, and all other major markets.

During the first three months of the year, Porsche delivered 80,767 vehicles to customers around the world. China was the brand’s most important single market, accounting for 21,365 sales or a 21% increase over the 17,685 units sold there in Q1 2022. Behind China was North America with 19,651 sales (a 30% increase), Europe (excluding Germany) with 18,420 sales (+14%), Overseas and Emerging Markets accounting for 13,084 sales (+5%), and Germany with 8,247 sales (+19%).

Sales proved to be particularly strong in the United States, soaring by 34% to 17,440 units, a new record for a first quarter.

U.S. sales were strong for all models. A total of 2,324 911s were sold in Q1 2023 compared to 2,123 last year while an impressive 1,124 718 Cayman and Boxter models found new homes, a 44% increase from last year. Sales of the Taycan fell from a high of 1,925 in Q1 2022 to 1,527 in Q1 2023 but despite this, it still outsold the Panamera which shifted 1,006 units. The Cayenne and Macan remain the brand’s two best-selling models, shifting 4,293 and 6,980 units respectively.

“This all-time record is a great achievement and we’re grateful to every customer,” Porsche Cars North America president and chief executive Kjell Gruner said in a statement. “It demonstrates the solid demand for our cars and is the result of an awesome combined effort by our dealers, PCNA and Porsche in Germany with a single objective: to deliver an exceptional experience. Despite such strong demand and records, we’re still feeling some of the supply chain issues affecting the whole industry. Nevertheless, it is a promising start to the year as we ramp up our celebrations of the 75th anniversary of Porsche sports cars.”

Looking at the brand’s worldwide sales, some 23,880 examples of the Macan were delivered, positioning it just above the Cayenne which recorded 23,387 deliveries, the 911 with 11,063 units sold, a total of 9,152 Taycans being handed over to customers, some 8,479 Panamera models delivered, and 4,806 units of the 718 Cayman and Boxster being sold.
