The Ram 1500 TRX is one of the craziest pickup trucks ever conceived so when it was time for the Drivetribe crew and Richard Hammond to pick a replacement for their Dodge Charger Hellcat, it’s little surprise that they opted for the TRX.

Given that Dodge itself doesn’t sell the 1500 TRX directly in Europe, Drivetribe headed to AEC, the official importer for Dodge in the region. Hammond could have opted for another Charger, a Challenger, or perhaps a Durango SRT Hellcat but having previously owned a Ford Ranger Raptor, it was a logical choice to go with the Ram.

While taking a tour of the car, Hammond reveals that he had thought about buying the new Ranger Raptor but unless he somehow managed to get his hands on the new Raptor R, he would have had to make do with something packing significantly less grunt than the TRX. After all, the Ram is powered by the beloved 6.2-liter supercharged V8 that has powered all Hellcat models. It is good for 702 hp in this state of tune allowing for a 0-60 mph (96 km/h) in around 4 seconds and 0-100 mph (160 km/h) in about 10 seconds.

Hammond’s new toy is finished in a simple shade of black and will probably get plenty of use on and around his farm in a rural area of the UK. It has been optioned with a bull bar up front while the bed has carpeting to ensure that nothing slides around.

AEC is currently the only company that is importing the Ram 1500 TRX into Europe and the UK. European prices for the TRX start at approximately €100,000 ($110,552) and top out at €115,000 ($127,000). For those not looking to spend that much, a host of other Ram 1500 models are offered by AEC, including the Big Horn, Rebel, Laramie, Limited Longhorn, and the Limited.
