• This TLX Type S PMC Edition, #44 of only 100 produced, was intended as an investment by the seller and has only been driven 5 miles.
  • Despite the car’s pristine condition and limited production, the highest bid of $52,000 did not meet the seller’s reserve price.
  • The original MSRP for the hand-built TLX Type S was $63,995.

With the TLX Type S and Integra Type S, Acura has two exhilarating and desirable performance models available to shoppers in the U.S. One of the rare versions of the TLX Type S, known as the hand-built PMC Edition, was recently offered for sale on Cars&Bids where it failed to meet the seller’s reserve.

The owner of the TLX Type S PMC Edition, which had a starting MSRP of $63,995, said he acquired it as an investment, and as such, it has only been driven 5 miles (8 km). This particular model, number 44 of the 100 units produced, boasts a striking Curva Red finish and comes with a clean, accident-free Carfax report.

Perhaps the only nuisance is that the seller took out a loan to purchase the vehicle, so the money generated from the auction on Cars&Bids would have to be used to pay off the loan before the title can be transferred.

In the end, the auction concluded with a top bid of $52,000, falling short of the seller’s undisclosed reserve price. Considering the seller’s statement that the car was acquired as an investment rather than a daily driver, it’s reasonable to assume that they aimed to at least recoup their initial investment, if not turn a profit.

Cars&Bids stated that while they “weren’t quite able to close the gap on this TLX Type S,” they would facilitate communication between the seller and the highest bidder to attempt “to make a deal.”

Acura unveiled the PMC Edition of the TLX Type S sports sedan back in mid-2022. Crafted by the same master technicians responsible for the NSX Type S, this exclusive edition was meticulously assembled at the brand’s Performance Manufacturing Center in Ohio. It was available solely in three distinctive colors: Curva Red, 130R White, and Long Beach Blue, with only 100 units produced for each color variant.

We think the TLX Type S is one of the last good-looking sedans on the market. It is well proportioned, has plenty of aggressive details, and looks particularly striking with the red brake calipers and the 20-inch lightweight wheels with a copper-colored finish. Other highlights of the car’s exterior include gloss black badges, a carbon fiber lip spoiler, and a carbon fiber rear diffuser.

The cabin is also well-equipped and includes Ultrasuede and leather upholstery, a heated steering wheel, carbon fiber trim, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. Some of the original plastic protective wrapping remains in the cabin.

The beating heart of the TLX Type S is a 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 with 355 hp and 354 lb-ft (480 Nm) of torque. This engine is coupled to a 10-speed automatic transmission driving all four wheels through the Acura Super Handling All-Wheel Drive system.
