• Police caught the carjacking suspect quickly after he allegedly left his ID at the dealership.
  • It happened at the same dealership where he reportedly pulled a gun and stole a Mustang.
  • The suspect told reporters he was delivering classified documents to the CIA to save America.

Selling cars is hard work, but it was also particularly dangerous for one salesman in Texas. A presumed customer wanted to test drive a new Ford Mustang, so the salesman secured the driver’s ID. Then, just before embarking, the customer allegedly pulled a gun on the salesman and drove away alone. They seemingly forgot that the dealer still had the ID, and police swooped in shortly thereafter.

The incident went down on June 20 at around 2:00 pm in Jasper County, Texas. Around 115 miles northeast of Houston, the area isn’t heavily populated. Bright white pony cars like the Mustang 5.0 allegedly stolen from the dealer stand out, and just over 90 minutes after the encounter, police spotted the car in question.

Not only did it have an old plate that didn’t match the car, but it had curious writing on the rear window. It appears to say “C.I.A. 0087,” and that’s important because it ties into what the suspect would later tell local news reporters.

When officers pulled the car over, the driver, Justin Keith Colley, 38, from Village Mills, Texas, complied with orders. Authorities took him into custody and charged him with aggravated robbery. He’s also facing additional charges not yet announced.

That said, he did give a statement to local news KFDM. When asked why he did what he did, he denied using a gun to steal the car. He went on to claim that he was “trying to deliver classified intelligence to the CIA… because America is being destroyed and if something isn’t done about it pretty quick, America is going to fall.”

By that accounting, maybe he’s a hero in his own mind even if he fell short of his mission. In any case, it sounds like he’ll have some time to consider it in jail. Officers also found a firearm on the man. AutoNews was the first to report that Colley left his license at the dealership.
