• Toyota splits motorsport into TOYOTA RACING and GR-branded arms.
  • New TR010 Hybrid replaces the GR010 in 2026 Le Mans competition.
  • Updated hypercar echoes design of the GR GT that’s heading to production

Toyota is tightening the focus of its motorsport efforts with a shake-up that includes a new hypercar and a fresh identity for its racing division. After spinning off Gazoo Racing (GR) as a standalone brand focused on high-performance road cars, among them a successor to the GR Supra, Toyota has rebranded its top-tier racing division as TOYOTA RACING GmbH. The change officially takes effect on January 7, 2026.

Come the 2026 season, Toyota’s FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) entries will no longer compete under the GR banner. Instead, the TOYOTA RACING name will take its place on a new version of its Le Mans hypercar, the TR010 HYBRID, which replaces the outgoing GR010.

A New Name on the Grid

Toyota’s New Le Mans Hypercar Isn’t Wearing The Logo You’re Expecting

Earlier rumors had suggested the updated car would wear a GR20 badge, but Toyota has confirmed the new designation and shared a set of early images. The hypercar, set to battle Ferrari and others in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, showcases a sharper design with revised front and rear sections echoing styling cues from the recently revealed GR GT concept that will enter production next year.

So far, Toyota hasn’t disclosed whether the TR010’s powertrain will receive any performance tweaks. The current hybrid system pairs a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 with a front-axle electric motor. Power remains capped at 671 horsepower (500 kW / 680 PS), keeping within WEC’s regulations for top-class entries.

GR’s Motorsport Efforts Carry On

Despite the new direction, the GR badge isn’t being phased out from motorsports. Gazoo Racing will stay active in rallying and customer motorsport efforts, supported by the engineering and development muscle of the newly branded TOYOTA RACING.
