• Ineos Grenadier gets a retro makeover inspired by old Defenders.
  • Chelsea Truck added a mesh grille, steel-look wheels, and bumpers.
  • Throwback green paint and white roof nod to Land Rover heritage.

The Ineos Grenadier may have been created to step into the void left by the original Land Rover Defender, but the Chelsea Truck Company has taken that connection a step further, or rather a step back, bringing the lineage full circle with a new package.

As part of its “Heritage Remastered” program, the UK-based tuner has given the Grenadier an exterior and interior makeover that bears a striking resemblance to the limited-run 2015 Land Rover Defender Heritage Edition.

The most obvious link is the paint, a green shade that closely echoes the Grasmere Green used on the special Defender. It’s paired with matching 20-inch alloy wheels styled to resemble steelies, flared fenders, metal custom bumpers, and a white roof, all of which lend the Grenadier a distinctly vintage character.

The front end of the Grenadier has also been revised with a Lattice Mesh grille inspired by early Land Rovers from the 1940s. The reshaped nose conceals additional LEDs behind the grille’s body-colored mesh and is finished with new headlight garnish.

In addition to the green version featured by Afzal Kahn on Instagram, the Chelsea Truck Company has built another Heritage Remastered Grenadier. This one takes cues from the 2008 Defender 110 SVX 60th Anniversary Edition, mimicking that model’s unique spec.

This build uses the Fieldmaster Edition of the Grenadier Wagon as its base. The SUV features Inky Black paint, contrasted by a Volcanic Satin Silver finish applied to the grille, bumpers, door hinges, and wheels. Inside, the cabin has been trimmed in Old English Tan leather with quilted and perforated details.

BMW Power Remains

Mechanically, the Grenadier’s underpinnings remain unchanged. Both versions keep the BMW-sourced 3.0-liter straight-six engines. In the black model, that means the B58 petrol engine still produces 282 hp (210 kW / 286 PS) and 450 Nm (332 lb-ft) of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission.

The Price Of Nostalgia

The “Heritage Remastered” Grenadier displayed at Project Kahn’s showroom is listed at £79,999 ($109,200). For context, the standard Ineos Grenadier Station Wagon Fieldmaster Edition starts at £69,995 ($95,600). That puts the price of the Heritage styling and trim upgrade at around £10,000 ($13,700).
