Chevrolet K5 Blazer restomods are nothing new. Owners who want their K5 to stand out usually refresh them with a modern powertrain and upgraded suspension components, often sharpening its off-road credentials in the process. This 1972 K5 Blazer from Velocity Restorations takes a slightly different route.

The K5 has been rebuilt from the ground up on a Roadster Shop Spec chassis and is one of Velocity’s Street Series models. As such, extensive changes have been made to the suspension so it sits far lower than an original Blazer, completely transforming its looks.
Of course, the changes do not stop there. The exterior has been finished in China Gray, which looks quite similar to Audi’s well-known Nardo Gray but a little darker. It has also been optioned with a satin black hardtop rather than a removable fabric top like many other restomodded K5s.
Plenty of other blacked-out elements have been added, including a new bumper and grille, wing mirrors, door handles, badges, and 18-inch Forgeline wheels. The rear bumper and taillight surrounds are also finished in black.
Modern Power, Classic Looks
The engine is a GM 6.2-liter LT1 V8 with 460 horsepower, paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. A custom performance exhaust with Borla mufflers makes sure it sounds the part, too. Power goes exclusively to the rear wheels, which should make this K5 a proper riot to drive if you are feeling adventurous. A set of modern Wilwood brakes has also been added.
No restomod like this would be complete without an overhauled interior. Velocity has trimmed the cabin in plush new leather, while also adding Dakota Digital gauges, a modern Bluetooth head unit with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a Focal audio system.
There is no official price for this particular build, but Velocity Restorations’ K5 Blazer restomods are rarely inexpensive. Similar builds from the company typically start around $275,000 and can climb well beyond $300,000 depending on options and customization.
