• The Land Cruiser FJ offers customization options in Japan.
  • Catalogue includes upgrades from Modellista and ARB.
  • Toyota also offers its own accessories for the rugged SUV.

The new Land Cruiser FJ landed in Japan at a price that looks pretty reasonable, especially by American and European standards. Toyota’s accessory catalog is here to fix that. The collection launched alongside the rugged SUV and pulls in three sources: ARB for the off-road hardware, Modellista for the styling, and Toyota itself for the bits in between.

Starting with Modellista, Toyota’s in-house tuning arm (wisely, if you ask us) skipped the sporty add-ons that would have looked wrong on something this square. The bodykit covers a front bumper extension with integrated LEDs, a hood garnish, an illuminated grille, subtle fender flares, side moldings, and a roof spoiler. Aluminum guards sit under the front and rear bumpers for added protection.

The SUV rides on new 18-inch seven-spoke alloy wheels with a Matte Olive finish and a polished ring. Inside, Modellista’s contribution is mostly LED accent lighting. Buyers can also choose door handle protectors, a sunshade, tinted windows, and Pioneer speakers.

For buyers prioritizing genuine off-road capability, the ARB partnership delivers a heavy-duty skid plate, side steps that double as rock sliders, and a roof rack for the inevitable extra gear. That hardware is the launchpad for builds along the lines of the Land Cruiser FJ Meridian concept Toyota showed in Thailand.

Toyota’s own catalog splits the difference between styling and utility. The “Playful Set” adds topographical decals on the hood, doors, and spare wheel cover, plus Molle panels on the rear door and along the cargo area sides for strapping gear in place.

The automaker rounds things out with luggage trays, a backdoor opening guard, floor mats, seat covers, scuff plates, mud flaps, window shades, window visors, and dashcams. Anti-theft options stop at traditional wheel locks and a steering wheel lock, which feels light given the Land Cruiser’s recent track record in Japanese theft statistics.

The Math When You Tick Every Box

ARB

The parts live in the official configurator for the Land Cruiser FJ in Japan. The full Modellista treatment, including the exterior upgrades, the wheels, and the interior lighting, runs ¥965,800 ($6,100). The ARB hardware adds ¥591,800 ($3,800). Toyota’s Playful Set is the bargain of the lot at ¥169,400 ($1,100).

The Land Cruiser FJ opens at ¥4,500,100 ($28,500) with a reasonable list of standard kit. Tick every box in the accessory catalog and the number climbs to ¥7,154,890 ($45,310), well into Land Cruiser 300 Series money. At that point you have walked yourself straight into the conversation Toyota presumably did not want its FJ buyers to be having.
