• Honda set out to sell 300 examples of the Prelude in the US each month.
  • Sales of models like the Accord, Civic, and CR-V have surged.
  • Acura has also posted sales boosts for the Integra, ADX, and MDX.

Executives at Honda will be in a good mood after the group’s sales climbed nearly 10 percent through May. And it wasn’t only the Honda-badged models drawing buyers last month; several Acura models did their part too.

Combined, Honda and Acura moved 148,903 vehicles in the US last month, up 9.9 percent on May a year ago, though the year-to-date figure is fractionally down at 623,139 units, a 0.2 percent dip. The Honda brand did most of the heavy lifting with 135,668 sales, up 10.5 percent year-over-year, though its running YTD total of 565,737 units sits slightly behind last year’s pace, off 0.3 percent.

The Accord enjoyed a particularly strong month, with 18,688 units, a 33.3 percent rise month-over-month and a 28.9 percent gain year-over-year. Civic sales also increased 4.6 percent month-over-month to 26,995, up 1.2 percent on the year.

At the other end of the spectrum is the Prelude, currently Honda’s lowest-selling model with 318 units sold. This is down from the 357 sold in April, but, crucially, it exceeds Honda’s target of selling 300 Preludes each month in the US. Despite the critics, at least it seems the Prelude is selling just as well as Honda had hoped.

Other Honda models enjoying a strong May included the CR-V, with sales up 19.3 percent month-over-month to 45,141 units, though up just 2.5 percent year-over-year. HR-V sales also rose 0.7 percent month-over-month to 13,350, and Passport sales are up 3.8 percent. There was also strong demand for the Accord FHEV in May, with 9,414 sold (+33.1 percent month-over-month), the Civic FHEV, with 8,450 sold (+0.3 percent), and the CR-V FHEV, which posted a 25.7 percent spike to 24,401.

Not everything was cause for celebration. The Prologue, Honda’s electric crossover, fell 10.1 percent over the same month in 2025, and is down 50.3 percent year-over-year at 1,897 units. The Odyssey slipped 3.1 percent on the month and sits 15.1 percent lower year-to-date. Even so, Honda’s total electrified vehicle sales climbed 13.5 percent month-over-month to 44,173, evidence of how much the lineup now leans on hybrid power.

Acura Sales Jump, Too

Sales at Acura also climbed 4.1 percent last month to 13,215, up from 12,689 in May 2025. The biggest contributor to this boost was the ADX, with sales rising 106.2 percent to 3,179 units, up from 1,542 in May 2025. Demand for the Integra is also proving strong, with sales jumping 67.1 percent month-over-month to 2,968.

In addition, MDX sales rose 16.1 percent in May to 4,504 units. Things were not so good for the RDX, as sales dropped 14.2 percent to 2,514 units. As for the TLX and ZDX, both have been discontinued, so the numbers are academic at this point: just 48 and 2 units respectively.
