With the advent of increased Internet usage and the rise of social media in terms of brand awareness, not a single large car manufacturer can stay away from using this type of platform in order to reach its fans and customers.

Among all the automotive brands with an increased presence on social media platforms, it seems that Mercedes-Benz has the best performance by far, at least according to a recent study by eBench, a team of social media experts.

Along with BMW and Audi, Mercedes-Benz downright dominate their closest seven rivals, having the largest size, growth and engagement metrics, but the Stuttgart manufacturer alone is the uncontested leader in 9 of the 13 metrics that were measured by eBench.

For example, Mercedes-Benz is pretty much ruling everyone on Instagram – the fastest-growing social media platform – where is has the largest number of followers overall, the largest amount of new followers and the highest engagement from all its rivals.

This is most important because, unlike Facebook, Instagram doesn’t offer sponsored deals for content providers, so the engagement is more organic.

YouTube seems to be the only major weakness for the three-pointed star, since it has the third number of subscribers, after Audi and BMW, and the second number of overall views, after Audi.

The ten automotive brands that took part in the social media study are Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Aston Martin, BMW, Ferrari, Porsche, Jaguar, Land Rover, Lexus and Lamborghini.
