Nissan is continuing to promote its limited-edition GT-R50 by Italdesign and has brought one example to the New York Auto Show.
The eye-catching GT-R50 was first presented at last year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed but at the time, it was unclear if it would reach the production line. Nissan confirmed soon after that the car would be built and limited to just 50 examples worldwide. Each example is priced from €990,000 ($1.12 million) before taxes and optional extras.
Nissan hasn’t said how many units it has sold but the vehicle’s presence in New York indicates to us that the car isn’t sold out and there are still a select number of units available. Given the number of rich car collectors in the United States, it’s only fitting that the special supercar is being displayed in The City That Never Sleeps.
Like all other versions of the R35-generation Nissan GT-R, the GT-R50 is powered by a 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine. However, new internals means the powertrain now offers up 710 hp and 575 lb-ft (780 Nm) of torque. It’s not just power which makes the car that little more appealing than the ordinary model. It’s also the design.
Adorning the GT-R50 are all-new body panels penned by the experts over at Italdesign. Some of the most eye-catching new components include bespoke headlights and taillights, custom wheels, a large rear wing, and a special paint scheme combining gloss silver with matte gold.
Nissan also presented the 2020 GT-R at the New York Auto Show including a new Nismo model. The automaker has also re-introduced the iconic Bayside Blue of the R34 model for the GT-R.
