2022 Infiniti QX60 Will Be Able To Tow Up To 6,000 LBS

The all-new 2022 Infiniti QX60 is just around the corner and in addition to giving the vehicle a fresh new look, the car manufacturer has worked extensively to ensure it’s up to the tasks that any owner may throw at it.

In fact, the new QX60 will be able to tow up to 6,000 lbs (2,721 kg), a 20 per increase over its predecessor. That means owners will be able to tow everything from a 22-foot Airstream trailer to personal watercraft and other small motorized vehicles.

Supporting the added towing capacity is increased cooling and new stability assistants. Those variants of the QX60 focused on towing will include an uprated transmission oil cooler, integrated hitch receiver, trailer-tuned stability programming, and dedicated prewiring harnesses.

Infiniti has conducted durability testing of the QX60 with a trailer in a plethora of environments, including its Arizona Testing Center. Testing of the new SUV has also been conducted in Colorado, Alaska, the steep streets of San Francisco, and through off-road terrain in Utah.

“We make sure to tow up to the 6,000-pound capacity,” senior project engineer at the Arizona Testing Center Heather Kniep said. “We want to make sure that the customer is confident that they can tow their travel trailer to their campsite for the weekend and not worry about their vehicle overheating. In Arizona this year, we had a record number of days over 110 degrees (Fahrenheit), and the vehicle towed with no problem. We want the customer to know that they can be confident towing with their vehicle; they’re going to have strong acceleration (and) they’re going to have confident braking. I was really impressed with how it could accelerate up hills, even at the 6,000-pound towing capacity. It had absolutely no problem.”

Powering the 2022 Infiniti QX60 will be the same 3.5-liter V6 as the new Nissan Pathfinder, working alongside a nine-speed automatic transmission. The SUV will be unveiled later this year.
