- Lexus has introduced their vision for “a next generation sports car” at The Quail.
- A production version is rumored for a late 2026 debut with an electric powertrain.
- Design elements recall the Lexus LFA with exotic proportions and flying buttresses.
A new sports car vision from Lexus just stole the spotlight at Monterey Car Week, turning heads with its styling and high-tech details. It’s not just a showpiece either, as this concept likely points to where the brand is steering its next generation of performance machines.
Whether it’s hinting at a future LFA successor, a more grounded follow-up to the LC, or an entirely new sports model altogether remains unclear, given how little information Lexus has shared.
The Sport Concept marks an evolution in Lexus’ design language, and compared to the 2021 Lexus Electrified Sport Concept, it looks much closer to something you’d actually see on the road. With its low-slung stance, stretched hood, large alloy wheels, and flowing roofline, it blurs the line between classic sports car proportions and exotic grand tourer presence.

At the front, L-shaped LED headlights are integrated smoothly into the intakes. Hidden diamond-shaped daytime running lights only appear when illuminated, keeping the nose clean and purposeful. Sculpted fenders and a sharply detailed lower bumper replace the brand’s signature spindle grille with something more aggressive and arguably more appealing.
Shades of the LFA
Moving to the side, vents behind the front wheels and a C-pillar design hint at the discontinued LFA supercar. From above, you can see wing-like shapes resembling flying buttresses, directing air to an active rear spoiler that caps off the short rear deck.
Around back, the wide LED taillight strip runs across the car, interrupted only by a glowing Lexus badge. A large rear diffuser dominates the bumper, housing an F1-style center brake light that adds a motorsport touch.
Lexus
Lexus hasn’t revealed the interior in full, but glimpses in a promo video show a futuristic setup. A digital instrument cluster and yoke-style steering wheel suggest a possible drive-by-wire system. One unusual element stands out: a rooftop structure featuring four cooling fans, positioned beside an illuminated central fin.
Electric, Most Likely
While no specs were released, the absence of visible tailpipes in a performance machine like this strongly points to an electric powertrain. This lines up with earlier reports of a fully electric Lexus sports car arriving as soon as 2026, possibly replacing the aging LC.

A few years ago, Lexus CEO Koji Sato suggested that a future electric sports car would carry spirit of the V10-powered LFA. He also teased the idea of a simulated manual transmission, designed to enhance driver connection in an otherwise silent electric platform.
Whatever it ends up previewing, if the production version stays true to this concept, it could easily become a halo car for Lexus, showcasing cutting-edge tech before it filters down through the rest of the lineup. For now, you can watch the full CGI video below and take a closer look at the Sport Concept on display at The Quail: A Motorsport Gathering.
