- A “special Nismo concept” was shown in a teaser ahead of its unveiling at the show.
- The vehicle will be joined by the Fairlady Z, Leaf Autech, X-Trail Rock Creek, and March.
Just one day after Nissan announced it will double the its global performance lineup, the company shared the first teaser of a new Nismo concept that will be exhibited at the Tokyo Auto Salon 2026 between January 9-11.
The single photo shows a portion of the rear end of the mysterious vehicle that could be everything from a sports car to a coupe-SUV.

The horizontal taillights look rather production-ready and are mounted under a discreet lip spoiler. Another highlight is the vertical outlets on the sharp edges of the rear fenders. The rear glass appears to be inclined, and the shutlines hint at a hatchback.
From the teaser, it’s hard to tell whether the concept is ICE-powered or fully electric. Hopefully, it will preview one of the future production models currently under development.

The company has confirmed that a new Nismo prototype will begin competing in racing events in the 2026 fiscal year ahead of a planned market launch, although this could be a separate model.
Setting aside the concept, the Tokyo lineup includes a refreshed version of the Fairlady Z which is scheduled to hit Japanese dealers in summer 2026. The sports car that will be on display is the more desirable Nismo version fitted with a manual gearbox.
Nissan will also show the new Leaf crossover in the premium Autech trim, a modified X-Trail Rock Creek Multibed Wildplay SUV designed for camping adventures, and a classic March hatchback that went through a complete restoration including a manual transmission conversion.
