- First vehicle to include built-in PS Remote Play streaming.
A decade ago, the idea of Honda and Sony teaming up to build an EV might have sounded like the setup to a punchline. Fast forward to today, and the punchline is the car itself. A high-tech, all-electric vehicle called the Afeela 1.
Scheduled to hit North American roads next year, this collaborative effort from Sony Honda Mobility promises to combine automotive engineering with consumer tech in ways that would’ve seemed like science fiction not too long ago.
At the heart of the Afeela 1 is a 91 kWh battery pack paired with a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive system that delivers up to 483 horsepower. On paper, it looks like a serious performer. But just as important as what’s under the skin is what’s happening inside the cabin, where Sony’s entertainment DNA comes alive.
High Price, High Tech
The Afeela 1 doesn’t come cheap. Pricing starts at $89,900 for the base model, though the initial launch version will roll out in a fully loaded trim that starts at $102,900. That’s a steep entry point, but Sony and Honda are betting that for the right buyer, the experience will justify the premium.

As standard, the EV will let occupants remotely stream PlayStation games from their PlayStation 5 or PlayStation 4. It’ll be possible to play games remotely from their console on the central infotainment display or through the screens mounted to the back of the front seats. Gamers will be able to use either their PlayStation controller or the touchscreen.
“The introduction of PS Remote Play embodies AFEELA’s vision for mobility: transforming the traveling space into a captivating and emotional one,” president and chief operating officer of Sony Honda Mobility Izumi Kawanishi said.
“Through this integration, we are elevating the customer’s entire travel experience to an unprecedented level of entertainment.”
Sony Honda notes that a connection with download speeds of at least 5Mbps will be required, and a stable connection of at least 15Mbps is recommended for smooth game streaming.

In addition to gaming, the Afeela 1 will also be one of the first cars sold with a digital license plate straight from the dealership.Supplied by Reviver, they serve as yet another reminder that in the Afeela, even your license plate is part of the software-defined future.
Sales of the Afeela 1 will start next year, initially in California. Sony Honda hasn’t provided a timeline as to when deliveries will start in other US states.
