• Ford F-Series leads US sales again with 801,525 trucks sold total.
  • Chevy Silverado and Toyota RAV4 round out the sales top three.
  • Only four sedans and two Teslas manage to reach the top 25 list.

If you ever needed confirmation that America’s taste in vehicles rarely strays from the expected, the 2025 sales charts offer it in black and white. Trucks and SUVs once again dominated the rankings, with traditional passenger cars slipping further from relevance. As for EVs, only two models broke into the top 25, and both carried Tesla badges.

According to Car and Driver, the Ford F-Series continues its unbroken streak at the top of the list. The perennial best-seller moved a commanding 801,525 units, up 9.5 percent from the previous year. That’s nearly 230,000 more than its closest competitor, though there’s a caveat worth noting.

Second place went to the Chevy Silverado, which notched 577,434 sales, a 4.5 percent improvement that keeps it planted in its usual spot behind the Ford. But if you combine the Silverado’s total with that of its sibling, the GMC Sierra, General Motors actually outsold Ford in the full-size truck arena. Together, the Silverado and Sierra reached 925,656 units, more than 120,000 ahead of the F-Series.

Best-Selling SUVs

That caveat aside, and going strictly by individual nameplates, the Toyota RAV4 held onto third place as the country’s top-selling SUV. With 479,288 units delivered, a modest 0.9 percent bump, its momentum may build now that the latest generation has hit the market.

Just behind it, the Honda CR-V held steady at number four with 403,768 sales, barely inching up by 0.2 percent. The Ram 1500 pickup held the fifth spot with 374,059 units, effectively flat from the previous year, while the GMC Sierra slotted into sixth with 348,222 sales, a 7.8 percent increase.

Tesla’s Model Y claimed the seventh spot, retaining its crown as the best-selling EV in the U.S. with an estimated 317,800 units. That figure, however, reflects a 15 percent drop compared to 2024. The only other EV on the top 25 list is the Tesla Model 3, which landed at number 21 with 172,800 sales, marking a 9 percent decline.

Where Are the Sedans?

In total, only four of the 25 top-selling vehicles were standard passenger cars, and that includes the Tesla Model 3. The Toyota Camry held on as the best-selling sedan in America, placing eighth with 316,185 deliveries and a slight 2 percent gain year over year.

Trailing not far behind were two other compact stalwarts. The Toyota Corolla ranked eleventh with 248,088 sales, up 6.5 percent, while the Honda Civic followed at twelfth with 238,661, dipping by 1.4 percent.

Rounding out the top ten were the Toyota Tacoma midsize pickup and the Chevrolet Equinox compact SUV. Their numbers were nearly neck-and-neck: the Tacoma posted 274,638 units, a massive 42.4 percent jump, while the Equinox came in just behind at 274,356, up 32.1 percent.
