• Tom’s Racing reworks the Toyota Century with aero and quad pipes.
  • Upgrades include quilted Nappa leather and Alcantara interior trim.
  • Commissions start at $194K, or $61K for existing Century owners.

The Toyota Century might be one of Japan’s most dignified luxury sedans, but that hasn’t discouraged Tom’s Racing from giving it a tailored, performance-leaning tune with a full suite of exterior and interior upgrades.

First unveiled in 2020, the Century Tom’s Edition returns with new builds that look more refined than before. The tuner recently shared fresh footage of the modified Emperor’s Ride cruising through city streets, its presence still unmistakably regal, now with sharper edges.

The styling package adds sportier touches, including extensions for the front and rear bumpers, new side skirts, and a subtle lip spoiler on the tailgate. One of the standout elements is the Tom’s Barrel Exhaust, featuring quad tailpipes.

While the original concept car from the 2020 Tokyo Auto Salon wore somewhat gaudy 21-inch wheels, newer builds come equipped with BBS RZ-D forged alloys in 18, 19, or 20-inch diameters. These wheels are crafted from a zinc and magnesium alloy and offered in diamond black, silver, or a glossy black finish that feels better matched to the Century’s character.

Inside the cabin, Tom’s adds new upholstery for the seats, door cards, and armrests. The material is quilted Nappa leather, available in either black or white.

The original wood trim remains in place, but it can now be paired with Alcantara for a more tactile contrast. A Tom’s-branded engine start button and embroidered headrests round out the revisions.

The Selection Process

According to Tom’s, each donor vehicle is a carefully selected used Century with no structural damage or prior repairs.

After an initial inspection at their Gotemba facility, worn components are either cleaned or replaced before any upgrades begin. The final step involves a secondary inspection by a Toyota dealer, which ensures that buyers can retain the remainder of the original factory warranty.

Beneath the hood, the sedan retains its standard 5.0-liter V8 hybrid powertrain. The setup delivers a combined output of 425 hp (317 kW or 431 PS) and 510 Nm (376 lb-ft) of torque. No changes have been made to the adaptive air suspension or the ventilated disc brakes, which means ride comfort and braking performance stay true to the stock configuration.

How Much Does It Cost?

Tom’s Racing lists the cost of a full Century commission at ¥30,200,000 (roughly $194,000), which makes it significantly more expensive than the standard model. If you already own a Century, the full upgrade package alone runs ¥9,570,000 (about $61,500).

For those willing to go the pre-owned route, the tuner is offering two used Tom’s Edition Centuries through its official website. Both are finished in Kamui Eternal Black and come with relatively low mileage.

The cheapest option was built in 2018 and comes with 27,100 km (16,839 miles) on the clock and an asking price of ¥24,134,000 ($154,900). The other is a more recent 2020 model with 13,000 km (8,077 miles) on the odometer and a ¥25,480,000 ($163,500) price tag.

Toyota has recently introduced minor updates for the Century in Japan, increasing its starting price to around ¥23 million ($147,700) for the 2026 model year.
