- A fleeing burglary suspect’s car struck a working DoorDash driver.
- The impact flung her onto the sedan’s hood in front of the house.
- Officers chased the suspect on foot and made the arrest nearby.
If I had just parked my car and got hit by a suspect fleeing from police, I’d probably gingerly get off the pavement, walk a safe distance away from the scene, and pull out my phone and start recording. However, for a DoorDash driver who was hit during a police chase in Houston, Texas, she was determined to finish her food delivery. You have to respect the hustle.
The incident happened several days ago and was captured by the cameras on a house opposite the scene. Initially, the orange DoorDash hatchback pulls up in front of a house, but the driver could never have expected what would happen next.

Moments after opening her car door and getting out while grasping a large package, a silver sedan comes into view, clipping the rear of her hatch and hitting her. She gets flung onto the sedan’s hood, but fortunately, she doesn’t appear to have hit her head or anything. The food she’d be holding was flung from her hands, landing hard on the pavement.
While the woman is clearly in pain, she limps to the house and drops the food off at the door. All while this was happening, the suspect in the silver sedan jumped out of their car and ran through a house’s garden with a Ford Explorer in tow. Two officers then gave chase on foot.
Running From The Law Never Works
According to ABC13 Eyewitness News, the suspect, later identified as Torrance Whitaker, jumped multiple fences in his attempt to get away. He didn’t get far and was arrested by officers, with assistance from a K-9 unit.
The delivery driver, who asked to stay anonymous, also talked to the outlet and confirmed that while nothing was broken, the crash left her in serious pain. As for the 34-year-old suspect, he was wanted for burglary and fled from police after they attempted to pull him over along nearby Northborough Drive. He has not been charged with aggravated assault for running into the delivery driver.
