Chevrolet has announced design and equipment updates for the 2016 Silverado 1500 full-size pickup truck.

Introduced in 2013, the revised Silverado 1500 will get some cosmetic tweaks as well as equipment upgrades for the 2016 model year. The bolder look is due to the redesigned light units which now include LED daytime running lights and LED fog lights. The grille has also been redesigned, as have the front bumper and engine hood.

“New front end designs with bold horizontal elements, sculpted hoods and dramatic lighting reflect the strength and refinement that have helped make Silverado the fastest growing full-size pickup brand this year,” said Sandor Piszar, marketing director for Chevy Trucks.

Other changes for 2016 will include expanded availability of 8-speed automatic transmissions, updated Chevy MyLink with support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, as well as additional safety technologies.

More details will be available this fall, closer to the public debut of the 2016 Silverado 1500.
