Range Rover Sport Coupe To Tackle BMW X6, Share Jaguar F-Pace Chassis

Mercedes-Benz isn’t the only automaker to go BMW X6 hunting, as Land Rover has the Bavarian SAV in its sight as well.

Codenamed L560, the new model is expected to be dubbed Range Rover Sport Coupe. Quoting sources within the company, Autocar states that while most of its details remain a secret, the new addition to the Range Rover family is expected next year.

It will reportedly use the same chassis and suspension as the Jaguar F-Pace, coming with a lightweight aluminum body. With a length of approximately 4.7 meters long, it will be slightly shorter than BMW X6 and Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe (4.9 m), slotting between the Evoque, which is 4.4 meters long, and the 4.85 meters Range Rover Sport.

While its size will put it close to the BMW X4 (4.6 m), its price tag, stylish exterior and an interior benefiting from the newest materials and finishes, will position it closer to the bigger German competitors. Its cabin is expected to offer seating for four, but a 2+1 rear seat, with a fifth seatbelt, should make its way to the options list.

The British magazine believes an all-electric powertrain might eventually join the lineup, made out of six[ and 8-cylinder petrol and diesel engines. It’s not known at the time whether the four-pot mills available on the Jaguar F-Pace will make it to he new Range Rover. A hybrid powertrain is also in the cards, possibly based on the SDV6 HEV in the Range Rover Sport, while the 5.0-liter supercharged V8 is available for a range-topping SVR.

It’s just a placeholder image. Not actually the car mentioned in the article.

      it is..

  • Hey

It is Evoque. It’s just a rumour. You probably didn’t read the article nor the title.

I feel it’s unnecessary but with SUV’s and crossovers all the rage. It will sell well.

At first I was opposed to this… I wanted it to be based on the Range Rover Sport platform so that it can have the length to give us a truly stunning design. But now that I think of it, the XE-based platform of the F-Pace will serve this segment much better, with great handling, plus it’ll help the XE be viable by spreading the costs of its development around to other LR-Jaguar products.

I just wish it will be longer than 4.6 meters. Can’t wait to see it!

Will it be a real coupe or just a coupe like styling?

Uggggjh! Land Rover selling out. I hate these SUV sport coupes. They aren’t SUVs, they aren’t coupes and they aren’t sport. The stupidest automotive segment i’ve ever seen.
